One really good exercise is sit on your back lying down with your knees crunched up to your abs and extend out and in (back and forth making sure both legs are together) this is highly effective for burning fat off. Also if your backyard is big enough try to make use of the area by doing some kicking exercises to burn off the love handles, sounds silly but is highly effective!
